University Life in UAE l Campus Life Dubai l Top Universities l Amity University Dubai
All through my late teen era until this very moment where I'm in my mid-twenties, people have been asking me one particular thing. 'How is university life here in UAE?'
To answer that question, I kinda had to go through thinking about presenting them a PPT presentation with bullet points to make them understand. Well, if I can't do a seminar I'm all in for a deep dive about it on my own blog.
PS: whatever I mention here is in my own personal experience (facts though) and note that I did both my bachelors and masters at Amity University Dubai.
1. Learning at my university, I didn't just learn. Well let's admit, and we all know, that academic learning can be quite monotonous often. But at my university, I seldom felt so. The campus is way spacious and too far from monotonous. Guess what, it has a HUGE library, computer labs, study areas, SILENT study zones, canteen, cafe, and what not. You can basically learn from anywhere in case you get bored or if you feel so dry for a study session.
2. Nourishment. This part was well taken care of. We have a canteen, Tim Hortons, plus plenty of vending machines across different floors of university. Besides, when you step out of Amity, you can basically walk to cafeteria spots (if it's winter) or just take a cab or drive off as it's just 5 minutes away. So let's say you get a 1 hour break between your classes, you can just visit the outside cafeteria spot and come back quick to university, freshen up and attend the rest of your classes. Delivery is convenient as well here!
3. Prayer rooms: hygienic, elegant and peaceful. This room in Amity gives a place for students to pray with complete peace. I've never seen an unkempt prayer room in there. It's always well-kept and tidy. Breathe easy.
4. Adrenaline: when I did my bachelors there, to be honest I took part in almost 90% of whatever programs happened at Amity: global days, women's days, Eid celebrations, Amity Dubai Theatre productions, freshers days, competitions, industry days, DJ sessions, performing arts and media fest, I could go on forever. This kind of a campus raised my bars. Watching sports tournaments like football, basketball, volleyball, badminton etc. and watching my friends do swimming races at the pool levelled up my adrenaline like anything. We have a fitness suite (gym + dance studio), basketball/badminton court, football ground, amphitheatre, auditorium etc. I mean, who wouldn't love such a campus?
5. I learnt to use and got familiarized to new software and tech-tools just because I enrolled here. We have a lot of presentations as assignments (trust me presentations make us better speakers), so that part was taken care of. Also, IVs (Industrial Visits). In my Amity era, I was taken on 2 IVs: to Pepsi in Bachelors and to DHL in Masters. Those taught A LOT. Note down whatever you wanna remember from IVs because DUH!
There's a lot more.
Also, more than whatever I mentioned here, I met so many beautiful and artistic souls both in students and professors. Stakeholders of a university can be very influential in your prime, and I'm glad I met a lot of people to have productive professional conversations as well as healthy personal acquaintances. So yeah, when you ask 'Is uni life in Dubai average or normal?', I'd say,
'It's supercalifragilisticexpialidocious'.
Stay tuned to my IG, I might do a videoooo byeeeee :)
